Kaluli development foundation
1.0 Background
Kaluli Development Foundation (KDF), an NGO registered with the Registrar of NGOs, is a nonprofit organisation, founded in 1998 and was born out of a rural development project called Gwembe
South Development Project (GSDP), which was jointly run by Gossner Mission (a Germany Christian
organisation) and the Government of Zambia.
The organisation (KDF) offices are located in Sinazongwe District, in the Southern Province of
Zambia. KDF is currently operating in three districts; namely: Choma, Pemba and Sinazongwe.
2.0 Geographical area(s)/region(s) of work
The organisation's developmental work catchment area is the area along the Zambezi Valley mainly
operating in Sinazongwe District, occupying 4,200km², with a population of 124,222 people (2018
projection), and 55% of the population are women. However, KDF’s community development work
activities have now spilled over into Choma and Pemba districts.
To carry out development, with community participation, that transforms the life of the people,
through empowerment, and utilising fully local resources towards sustainability.
To promote and facilitate economic, social and environmental developmental activities for the
inhabitants of the Sinazongwe district and outlying areas.
overall objectives are to:
a) Seek rapid growth in projects volume and, in that regard, assist in deepening the development
impact of KDF’s interventions;
b) Broaden and diversify service range;
c) Seek alliances with other NGOs to enhance community members' benefit outputs
